The major highlight of the season, according to Rohit, was winning BGT after the Adeliade Debacle

Two of the biggest names in Test cricket will square off in England for the 2023 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) championship. On Wednesday, the much anticipated match will begin at the London Oval. The Australian advanced to the finals after taking first place in the WTC points table with 11 victories and 3 defeats in 19 games, earning 66.67 percent of the possible points. India, on the other hand, came in second place with a 58.8 points percentage after finishing with 10 wins and 5 loses in 18 games.

The two captains, Rohit Sharma and Pat Cummins, came together to speak at an event dubbed “An Evening with Test Cricket Legends at The Oval” that was presented by famous commentator Harsha Bhogle before to the much anticipated match.

When asked about the standout moments in India’s Test cricket over the last two years, Rohit cited the team’s series victory in Australia in 2020–21, which was accomplished despite the absence of the majority of its senior players.

“After the COVID, the past couple of years weren’t so wonderful. People were confined inside, we were in a bubble, and we had no idea what to anticipate. Many of the younger lads in our group were really unhappy about that. But you need to overcome the odds and recover from it,” Rohit stated at the occasion.

“I considered our performance in Australia to be the biggest highlight. Coming back after losing the first Test in Adelaide demonstrates the team’s depth as well. We also sustained a great deal of wounds. I participated in the final two games, although I was aware of the difficulties the squad was facing.

“We stayed calm and prevailed, but there was a lot of preparation done in advance for us to achieve that outcome. Many young men came forward and saved the day for us. On the tour, several senior players were absent. So, yes, it was unquestionably our finest cricket outside of India, he said.

Rohit continued by recalling the recent 2-1 victory against Australia at home, during which the Indian pitches were the main topic of conversation.

However, the most recent series versus India was thrilling. We were able to get through the difficult circumstances and difficult pitches, Rohit remarked.
