Update on Glenn Maxwell’s injury: Will the star of RCB participate in the crucial match against SRH? View the most recent information

The current Indian Premier League is off to a terrible start for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. With only one victory in their first six games, the Faf du Plessis-led team is facing elimination before the playoffs. Glenn Maxwell’s thumb injury sustained during Thursday’s game against the Mumbai Indians last week dealt them yet another setback.

The Australian all-rounder sustained a thumb injury while fielding in the second inning, according to many media sources. According to Mo Bobat, the team director of RCB, he also had a few scans. The Australian all-rounder has also received an update from the director ahead of their Monday, April 15 matchup against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Maxi has undergone a few scans, and right now he is doing OK. Therefore, no injuries are a problem. Before RCB’s game against SRH, Bobat said at the pre-match news conference, “He’s going to practice today and get more of a feel.”

Maxwell hasn’t been playing well this season, particularly at bat. With three ducks making things worse for him, he has only managed to score 32 runs at an average of 5.33 in the six innings. However, Bobat believes the Australian World Cup champion will succeed.

“He feels let down. In addition to having a very, very remarkable 12 to 24 months, he certainly has high standards. He is a key component of our batting order and is part of our goals. Thus far, we’ve been doing all in our power to assist him and help him discover his peak performance,” Bobat said about Maxwell. Cameron Green, who was benched when Will Jacks received his first IPL cap against MI, may be added if RCB chooses to rest Maxwell.

In their sixth encounter, the Mumbai Indians thoroughly defeated the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) side, scoring 196 runs in only 15.3 overs. Except for Virat Kohli, there is little to be happy about in the batting department, and their bowling seems to be absolutely out of form. With 319 runs scored in those six games, the former captain of the Royal Bengals is now the tournament’s top run scorer.

However, he hasn’t had much help from the others. Only three RCB batsmen have scored fifty or more runs, including Kohli’s two fifty-plus scores and his century. Those three scores occurred during the match against MI, on a rare off day for Kohli.

They will have to contend with the formidable Sunrisers batting lineup, which includes players like Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen. If RCB is to remain in the running for the playoffs, they must discover a winning formula sooner rather than later.
