Wanindu Hasaranga Enters The Elite Club With Lasith Malinga

Wanindu Hasaranga, a spinner from Sri Lanka, earned his 100th T20I wicket in New Delhi. He became the second bowler from Sri Lanka to achieve this feat with this wicket. After Lasith Malinga, Hasaranga is the second bowler from Sri Lanka to achieve 100 wickets in Twenty20 Internationals. He is now the twelfth men’s player overall.

In the present Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Afghanistan, where hosts Sri Lanka has won two of the three games, he is now heading the team. He achieved the feat in Dambulla during the second Twenty20 International.

In men’s T20Is, Hasaranga has claimed more wickets than any other bowler since making his debut in 2019. The only other bowler from Sri Lanka with more than 100 T20I wickets was Malinga. Malinga became the first player to get 100 T20I wickets in his 76th match, while Hasaranga achieved the feat in his 63rd. Rashid Khan was the first player to earn 100 wickets in 53 matches in 2021.

Hasaranga now has 101 wickets in 63 T20Is at an average of 15.36 and a strike rate of 6.78. He finished with 2/19 in four overs in Dambulla on Monday.

After defeating Afghanistan in the second Twenty20 International, Sri Lanka led the three-match series 2-0. Now, on February 21 at Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, the third Twenty20 International will take place.

With the T20 World Cup starting in the USA and the West Indies on June 2, Sri Lanka will undoubtedly want to win the series, which will give them more confidence. South Africa and Sri Lanka will square off in their first match on June 3 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.
