Watch Kavya Maran sob as SRH loses to KKR in the IPL 2024 Final and turns back to the camera to cry

After the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won their third Indian Premier League (IPL) championship on Sunday night in Chepauk, the team’s camp erupted into celebration. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were destroyed by 8 wickets as the Shreyas Iyer-led team put on an incredible display with the bat and the ball to win the IPL 2024 championship.

With the ball, KKR displayed a clinical approach to remove SRH for 113, the lowest-ever total in an IPL final match. Afterwards, they needed as little as 57 balls to effortlessly pursue the objective. While Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the wicketkeeper-battler, produced a noteworthy contribution of 39 runs off 32 balls with two sixes and five boundaries, Venkatesh Iyer struck the game-winning half-century.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who co-owns KKR, was seen waving to the supporters from the Chepauk stands.

However, a sad stillness descended upon the SRH dugout, apart from the exuberant KKR camp. Kavya Maran, the owner of Hyderabad, was seen wiping her moist tears as she turned her back to the presenters.

Earlier, the Knight Riders’ most effective bowlers were Mitchell Starc (2/14), Andre Russell (3/19), and Harshit Rana (2/24) as SRH just did not show up for the crucial match.

After choosing to bat first, SRH had a dreadful start, losing their best players, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, for only six runs. Travis Head was removed for a first-ball duck against a stunning outswinger.

Prior to that, Mitchell Starc dismissed Abhishek with the sixth ball of the first over, a cracking delivery that opened up the left-hander before striking the top of the off stump. As Starc removed Rahul Tripathi from the game in the fifth over, SRH found themselves in a precarious situation. The KKR bowlers were taking advantage of the early swing.

Harshit Rana, the first-change bowler, carried on his excellent effort and dismissed Nitish Reddy (13). In the eleventh over, SRH was down to 62/5 after Andre Russell removed Aiden Markram in his opening over.
