‘We’re Done With That,’ Virat Kohli Said: Naveen-ul-Haq Recalls His On-Field Conversation With Indian Star

At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, the reconciliation between Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq stole the show, overshadowing India’s eight-wicket victory over Afghanistan in the ODI World Cup 2023 match.

During India’s run-chase, Kohli and Naveen hugged and shook hands on the field to put an end to their IPL argument. Fans anticipated that the issue would continue once the game began, but Kohli, who serves as the game’s ambassador, took a different stance. During his batting innings, he spoke with the pacer and concluded the conversation with a grin and an embrace.

Even Kohli pleaded with the audience to support Naveen and cease jeering at him. During the 2019 World Cup encounter against Australia, he did the same for Steve Smith.

Naveen explained what precisely Kohli said to him and how they resolved the dispute after the game.

The crowd chanted in support of the home cricket team, and that is exactly what they did. It serves as Kohli’s home field. We shook hands and he is a lovely man and a talented player, Naveen told PTI.

“there (what happened) never occurred above the earth; there was nothing else. People achieve success. They need that material for their supporters. He said that “we are done with that” today, and I agreed. We embraced and shook hands, he continued.

Earlier this year, during the IPL game between Lucknow Supergiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kohli and Naveen got into a nasty verbal altercation that resulted in significant penalties for both players and Lucknow’s head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Gambhir also commended Kohli and Naveen for settling their dispute on the pitch.

“On the field, not off, is where you battle. Every player has the right to stand up for his or her team, demand respect, and pursue victory. It makes no difference what nation you are from or how talented a player you are. The dispute between Virat Kohli and Naveen Ul Haq seems to have come to a stop, which is a good thing, Gambhir stated during match commentary.

The 24-year-old has only participated in nine ODIs, and he intends to stop playing the game after the World Cup.

When asked about his intentions to retire, Naveen stated: “To be honest, more international bowlers would choose to forgo playing ODI cricket due to the lack of balance between the bat and ball. Although it is what it is, I wish I had played more one-day international cricket.
