Workshop at KSSR will emphasize role of sports psychology in shooting; Abhinav Bindra to be on panel

May 18, New Delhi From May 20 to 24, the Sports Authority of India Karni Singh Shooting Ranges will host a five-day certification program that will highlight the vital role that sports psychologists play in the lives of shooting athletes.

The National Centre for Sports Science and Research (NCSSR), in partnership with the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), and the Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), Patiala, will oversee the program.

The program claims to educate participants on cutting-edge tactics and useful interventions via a mix of lectures, panel discussions, and hands-on training sessions guided by renowned sports scientists, high-performance coaches, shooting champions, and administrators.

A few of the well-known speakers include Abhinav Bindra, the gold medalist from the 2008 Olympics; Pierre Beauchamp, the director of Indian Shooting High Performance; Samaresh Jung; Ronak Pandit; and other accomplished athletes, coaches, and administrators.

The goal of the certification program for sports psychologists is to increase ability so that all parties involved can comprehend the significance of psychological factors in shooting. The goal of this rigorous curriculum is to close the existing mental health assistance gap for elite shooters.

The course also covers how shooters may learn strategies for overcoming psychological obstacles so they can perform at their best on the range and remain composed under pressure, which allows them to do their best work when it matters most.
