India vs. Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 Match: Eisenhower Park in New York Will Be More Secure Due to Threat Reports

30 May, New York [US]: Following allegations of threats to the event, security will be increased at New York’s Eisenhower Park stadium ahead of the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match in the ICC T20 World Cup on June 9, according to ESPNCricinfo. The governor’s office sent a statement saying that they are keeping an eye on the issue and that, as far as they can tell, “there is no credible public safety threat at this time.”

From June 3 to June 12, Eisenhower Park Stadium, which is 25 miles east of Manhattan, will play home to eight ICC T20 World Cup matches, including a contest between two Asian rivals. Kathy Hochul, the governor of New York, said that she is coordinating with law enforcement to ensure the success of these events.

“I have also directed the New York State Police to engage in elevated security measures, including an increased law enforcement presence, advanced surveillance, and thorough screening processes,” she was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo. “Public safety is my top priority and we are committed to ensuring the Cricket World Cup is a safe, enjoyable experience,” she said.

According to information obtained by ESPNCricinfo, officials have not discovered any supporting proof for the alleged threat. However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has declared that all sites would have “robust” security throughout the competition.

“Everyone’s safety and security at the event is our number one priority, and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place,” an ICC spokeswoman said. We have good links with the authorities in the nations where we are hosting, and we constantly observe and assess the world environment to make sure that the necessary precautions are taken against any threats to our event.” India will play four games in the United States: on June 5, they will play their campaign opener against Ireland; on June 9, they will face Pakistan; on June 12, they will play the USA; and on June 15, in Florida, they will play their last group stage encounter against Canada.

Star Indian batsman Virat Kohli has not yet arrived in New York, having been granted a break after an outstanding Indian Premier League (IPL) season for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), in which he won the Orange Cap for most runs with 741 runs in 15 games. However, the Men in Blue have been training since Tuesday. The World Cup co-hosts, Cricket West Indies and the International Cricket Council (ICC), informed spectators and players earlier this month that every precaution is being taken to secure their safety.
