BJP leader Kalyan Singh reached to record statement in CBI court in Babri demolition case

Lucknow. Kalyan Singh , senior BJP leader in the 1992 Babri demolition case in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh , appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation special court to record the statement here on Monday. Former UP Chief Minister and former Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh (88) has arrived to give a statement before the special judge of CBI. The special court of CBI is recording the statement of 32 accused under Section 313 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Other alleged accused in the case include former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani and senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, whose statements are yet to be recorded.

Lawyers for both these leaders have asked the special CBI court to record their statements through video conference. Ram Chandra Khatri, another accused in the case, is currently in Sonepat Jail in Haryana in another case. The court ordered its office to send a letter to NIC to arrange to record the statements of these accused by video conference.

The court has in the past continued NBW against another accused Om Prakash Pandey. In his compliance, a report was given by the CBI that Mahendra Pandey, brother of the said accused told that Om Prakash Pandey had been a monk long back and now he does not come home. Although he has spoken of finding him in a week, the court had ordered the CBI to get in touch with Mahendra Pandey. The Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was demolished by Kar Sevaks in December 1992, claiming that the place had a temple of Lord Rama. The special CBI court is hearing the case daily on the order of the Supreme Court and is to be completed by 31 August.
