Hindi Strike of electricity workers in UP ends, the next hearing will be held in High Court on this day
The four-day-long strike by electricity workers in Uttar Pradesh ended on the fifth day after which power supply has been restored in the state. It has been agreed to end the strike after talks with the office bearers and administrative officers of the electricity workers' union. The additional Chief Secretary (Energy) has given this information to the Allahabad High Court. He also informed me that the power supply has been restored with the end of the strike.
In fact, during the hearing of the PIL on the complaint of stoppage of electricity and water supply for three days in and around Kalindipuram of Prayagraj, Additional Advocate General Manish Goyal had told in the morning that the power supply has been restored in Prayagraj. On this, the lawyers told that not only in Prayagraj but in the entire state, the power supply is interrupted due to the strike.
On this, the Additional Advocate General presented the correspondence between the Additional Chief Secretary Power and the employees. The bench said a month back, a strike was warned from November 29. The government had one month to find a solution.
What action was taken against the striking workers? No mention has been made of this, when the court took cognizance, the power supply was restored in Prayagraj. It is not known whether the strike has been withdrawn or not. After this, the court directed the Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) to clarify the situation by three o'clock. On this, he appeared and informed the court about the withdrawal of the strike.
The question was asked by the High Court
On Friday, on the complaint of the lawyers, a division bench of Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice JJ Munir instituted a public interest litigation asking why action was not being taken against the striking employees under the ESMA Act. Instructions were given to restore the power supply immediately.
