In UP's Kanpur Junction, a GRP officer prevents a lady from falling onto the rails

A head constable of the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, prevented a lady from being run over by a train, preventing a serious disaster.

A lady can be seen falling on the platform while attempting to exit a moving train in a video posted by the Uttar Pradesh Police on its Twitter account. But a quick-thinking officer snatched her up and dragged her away from the danger before she could fall farther between the rails and the speeding train. As shown in the video, the mom was traveling with two kids.


The representative has been identified as UP GRP Chief Constable Shailendra.

"Train(ed) to rescue- Saluting the courageous deed of HC Shailendra of UP GRP who rescued a lady from slipping over the railway track with great agility at Kanpur Central Railway Stn," the UP police said in a statement praising the official's bravery.

"Boarding or disembarking a moving train may be dangerous & should be avoided at all costs," it warned in addition to warning passengers to use caution when boarding and deboarding.

In a previous such instance, a GRP constable in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, prevented a lady from being run over by a train as she attempted to cross the tracks to go to a platform.

In the widely shared video, a lady is seen at Firozabad Train Station crossing the lines. The lady was walking on the tracks when the train came by quickly. When the train drew closer, she attempted to climb the platform but was unable to get herself off the tracks. A courageous GRP officer intervened at that point and helped pull the woman up onto the platform.
