Kanpur: Youth killed in 'harsh firing', BJP worker arrested

In Uttar Pradesh, a youth was killed in 'harsh firing' during a wedding ceremony in the Rail Bazar area of ​​Kanpur. The police gave this information on Saturday. Police said that a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker has been arrested for firing a gun.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Mohd Sadiq (32), a resident of Mirpur Cantt, who worked as a bouncer and also ran a gym. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Shivaji said that the police, acting promptly, arrested Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker Ramji Gupta, who allegedly fired celebratory shots from his licensed double-barrel gun. He said, "We have also seized the gun which was used to fire the celebratory fire for forensic examination." Confirmed affiliation with BJP. He, however, added that Gupta is associated with the BJP as a worker and currently holds no position in the party. The Deputy Commissioner of Police told about the incident that Mohammad Sadiq was hired along with several others to ensure the safety of the guests during the wedding ceremony.

During the marriage ceremony, Ramji Gupta allegedly fired his gun, resulting in pellet injuries to Sadiq on his head, neck, and chest, they said. He said that after seeing blood oozing from the head and neck of Mohammad Sadiq, fellow bouncers immediately took him to Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. He said that investigation has been started by registering an FIR in the matter on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
