BSP MP Atul Rai, surrounded by allegations of rape with a girl from Ballia, has received a major setback from the Allahabad High Court. The court has rejected the bail application of Atul Rai in the case. Atul Kumar Rai, a girl from Ballia has filed a case against several sections including rape, cheating and threatening at the Lanka police station in Banaras.

According to the registered case, in 2019, Atul Rai took the girl to an apartment flat in Lanka on a bluff and sexually assaulted her. The girl has also accused him that BSP leaders have been pressurizing her to keep her mouth shut after the rape. BSP leader Atul Rai Ghosi is an MP from the Lok Sabha seat. He was the candidate of the alliance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Elections won despite rape allegations

In the election year 2019 itself, a case of rape was registered against him, despite this he won the election. Atul Rai defeated Harinarayan Rajbhar of BJP by 1,22,018 thousand votes. A total of 11,37,931 votes were cast in this seat and Atul Kumar got 5,72,258 votes, while BJP candidate Harinarayan Rajbhar got 4,50,240 votes.

Last few months ago, BSP MP Atul Rai, who was lodged in Naini Jail of Prayagraj, had pleaded for protection from Mafia Mukhtar Ansari. He had sent a letter from jail on his letter pad to the Chief Minister to the Home Secretary demanding his security. However, Mukhtar Ansari has died of corona.

Uttar Pradesh DGP Mukul Goel on Saturday ordered an inquiry against BR Meena, a 1997 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. Senior police officials said that a Ghaziabad man accused Meena of harassing his daughter by calling her late at night.

UP Police, through its official Twitter handle, replied to the complainant that the UP DGP has asked Additional Director General of Police, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) Headquarters, Ajay Anand to investigate the matter and submit the report to him at the earliest.

BR Meena is currently posted as Inspector General of Police, PAC, Eastern Zone in Prayagraj. Meena has not yet reacted to the allegations against her. State Police Spokesperson AN Tripathi said that more details will be given in the matter after the investigation is completed.

In the tweet, the officials assured the complainant that cognizance of his complaint has been taken and the matter is being investigated. The complainant has been asked to submit a written application in this regard to the Ghaziabad Police with all the details.

The complainant, in a tweet dated July 30, had said that IG calls his daughter late and threatens her with different numbers. He demanded immediate intervention of the state government and tagged Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, DGP UP, IPS and IAS associations in his tweet. The complainant in his Twitter profile has described himself as a retired government official.
