Several neglected schools are found during a Bulandshahr Education Department inspection; staff faces salary freezes

In response to a recent assessment of the state of Bulandshahr school grounds, the district education administration has taken action against some 150 employees of elementary and upper primary schools. Withholding their paychecks is the result of this move, the Times of India stated.

When the inspection was carried out in advance of the voting booth setup, it revealed a concerning situation in many schools. Numerous properties were discovered to be neglected, exhibiting clear indications of improper upkeep, such as missing paint or damaged repairs.

Every government school receives money from the government in the form of a composite grant that is designated expressly for upkeep, according to a Times of India story. These amounts, which range from Rs 12,000 to Rs 50,000 and, in some situations, up to Rs 1 lakh, are meant to pay for maintenance-related costs like paint, repairs, and other necessities. But a significant amount of these funds were found to be sitting idle.

The TOI cited Laxmikant Pandey, the basic education officer (BSA) in Bulandshahr, as adding that the staff members in question had been given a week’s grace time to address the matter. They will not be paid throughout this period. But if they don’t deal with the problems and use the money allotted to them in the allotted period, then things will become worse. This involves a one-month salary reduction for head teachers and school administrators in order to instill responsibility and guarantee that funds are used appropriately.

As for the 2020 employment of 69,000 assistant teachers, the Allahabad High Court has denied extending the benefit of reservation under the EWS category, claiming that the recruiting process started before the legislation was passed.

While dismissing many writ petitions filed by Shivam Pandey and others, Judge Saurabh Shyam Shamshery stated that the process of appointing 69,000 assistant teachers in Uttar Pradesh started on May 16, 2020, prior to the passage of the EWS Act, or on August 31, 2020.

Meanwhile, because of their absences from work over a six-month inspection period, the Bihar Education Department withheld 12,987 school teachers’ pay in December of the previous year. 39 other individuals were also suspended by the department for various infractions against teaching standards and the Bihar School Teachers’ Recruitment Standards.
