Lucknow. Former Uttar Pradesh government minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati has been sued by the Vigilance Establishment (Vigilance) in a disproportionate assets case on Thursday. Vigilance confirmed this on Friday and the matter will now be examined. A case has been filed against Prajapati, the mining minister in the Samajwadi Party government in the Lucknow section of Vigilance. According to sources, Vigilance had earlier conducted an open investigation into the matter in which Prajapati had been found to have assets worth six times more than his income.

Vigilance then sent a report to the government seeking permission to register a case against Prajapati. After getting permission, a case was filed against him on Thursday. Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, already charged in a rape case, was arrested and sent to jail by the Lucknow Police in 2017 and is still in jail. Prajapati also has many other cases against Gazipur and Gomtinagar Extension police station, including forgery.
