VIRAL

A vintage trunk purchased by this woman for only Rs 7,400 is worth Rs 16.5 lakh

The thrifting craze is out of control on social media because it feeds on variety, allowing an unprecedented transformation in both culture and economy. The internet is now obsessed with the trend of reusing upcycled goods, which has the advantage of being reasonably priced. But discovering a one-of-a-kind clothing item isn’t the only delight associated with thrifting; sometimes, individuals have a tendency to discover hidden gems when engaging in smart buying. Virginia Chamlee, a writer who is 38 years old, saw something similar.

Business Insider reports that the event happened while the lady was shopping in Orange Park, Florida, approximately seven years ago. Looking back, the author thinks it was all “kismet” that she discovered a hidden treasure in a little shop.

The shopkeeper suggested the lady check out another shed in the rear, but at first she couldn’t see anything that attracted her eye. She apparently gasped out loud when she saw an antique luxury trunk laying about while simply glancing around. Virginia said that she believed it to be an unreal offer. I reasoned that the discovery must be too wonderful to be true. However, I decided to purchase it anyway since, even if it were a fake, it was a really excellent one, she said.

The writer discovered the item in one piece with drawers and little compartments for jewelry, and she considered it nothing less than a bucket-list treasure. She paid $90 for it (about Rs 7,400), but she had the impression that the trunk was far more valuable. She had no idea, however, that after consulting with specialists, the real fee would probably rise to $20,000 (about Rs 16.5 lakh). The lady apparently contacted a baggage specialist who specializes in Louis Vuitton after bringing the old item home. The expert told her she had located a genuine Goyard trunk, which from the photos of her purchase appeared to be worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Evidently, she encountered several people who expressed interest in buying the trunk from her again. But I have no plans to ever sell it. I’ll be the elderly lady who lived in her trunk, I’ll joke, the woman remarked. If the rumor is to be true, the antiques are currently displayed in a corner of her bedroom. The designer trunk may have been left to the shop by a local lady who discovered it rusting in her mother’s attic.
