Dogecoin was inspired by the famous Japanese dog Kabosu, who passes away

Early on May 24, Kabosu, the well-known dog that gave rise to Dogecoin and many other meme coins, died away. The news was announced on her owner’s blog by Atsuko Sato. Leukemia and liver illness were shown to be present in the Japanese Shiba Inu. Sunday, from 1 PM to 4 PM, at Flower Kaori in Kotsu no Mori, Narita City, is the planned goodbye party.

Kabosu’s owner also conveyed her sincere appreciation for all of the love and assistance given to the dog over the years. “Kabosu was undoubtedly the happiest dog on the planet. I’m the happiest owner in the world because of it, wrote Atsuko Sato.

Kabosu became well-known online after a 2010 photo of her with her paws crossed and a sly smile went popular on Reddit and Tumblr.

The image was posted to Reddit under the handle “Doge,” with the word “dog” purposefully misspelled to allude to a 2005 episode of Homestar Runner.

Comic Sans letters in various colors and garbled English words, such as “Wow,” were superimposed over the picture. Thus, fear.

Dogecoin (DOGE) was inspired by Kabosu’s popular meme picture and started off as joke money in 2013.

Despite its origins as a joke, Dogecoin quickly gained traction and was used as the cryptocurrency of choice for several charitable endeavors, including clean water initiatives and sponsorship of the Jamaican bobsled team.

Many tokens with dog themes, such as Floki (FLOKI) and Shiba Inu (SHIB), were developed in response to DOGE’s success, and these tokens have now developed into one of the most significant groups in the industry.

The Doge meme was the subject of a $4 million (£3.2 million) non-fungible token (NFT) sale in 2021.

April of last year saw a sharp increase in the value of Dogecoin after Elon Musk briefly swapped up Twitter’s logo for a photo of Kabosu. Musk has made a strong case for the meme-based cryptocurrency.

In 2022, Kabosu received a diagnosis of chronic lymphoma, leukemia and cholangiohepatitis. When Kabosu’s owner revealed to the world in December 2022 that the dog’s health was in a “dangerous position,” the cryptocurrency community responded with an outpouring of compassion.

Kabosu’s impact has permeated political campaigns. For example, US President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign announced the hiring of a “master of memes.”

According to the job description, the main duty of the role would be to manage relationships with podcasts, digital media companies, and several meme pages scattered across social media platforms.
