Rare ‘Spider’ twins with a fused pelvis, four arms, and three legs were seen in Indonesia

In a very uncommon instance, conjoined twins with one penis, four arms, and three legs were born in Indonesia. The conjoined twins of India, Ganga and Jamuna Mondal, were described as united like a spider because of their condition. They have a single rectum, gut, and bladder. In 2018, the conjoined twins were born. The American Journal of Case Reports has released a case study on conjoined twins that occurs once every two million years. Ischiopagus tripus is the medical term for these twins, who have a fused pelvis. The children spent the first three years of their lives lying flat due to their inability to sit up after the difficult birth and survival of the gestation. The boys from Indonesia were born with a shared penis and anus, four working arms, one non-functioning leg, and two functional legs.

Both patients could feel and move the single fused leg. The doctors operated for hours to amputate their third limb after consulting with the parents, the hospital ethics committee, and the institution review board. Stabilizing their hip and pelvic bones to enable them to sit upright came next. Following their procedure, the twins have not had any issues.

Conjoined twins are born every 50,000 to 200,000 pregnancies, according to medical professionals. When the fertilized egg divides and grows into two pieces, this occurs. This kind of circumstance arises eight to twelve days post-conception. It has also been suggested in some studies that the development of two distinct embryos results in the birth of twins.

The fact that the parents had two older children and that there was no medical history in the family should also be noted. The mother also said that there were no health issues throughout her pregnancy. Only a small number of instances have been documented in the medical literature, according to the experts. Only six to eleven percent of conjoined twins are thought to be Ichiopagus, according to the Indonesian medical team.

Similar twins were born in China in 1989 as well. They were two-legged and two-handed. In 1992, medical professionals performed surgery to separate the two. Back then, he was just two years old. The procedure took around ten hours. In 2011, an analogous occurrence was also discovered in Pakistan. One of these kids was very frail and little. And his head was little.
