Umaria. A 65-year-old woman aboard a private bus was killed and 45 other people were injured when a private bus overturned on Thursday at a diversion under Amarpur police chowki area, about 55 km from Umaria district headquarters. Amrapur police chowki in-charge Sundresh Singh Marabi said that a bus going at high speed on Mahroi mode in Amarpur police chowki area went uncontrolled and overturned, killing Ram Bai Gupta (65), while 45 others were injured. Out of which 20 to 25 people are in critical condition.
He said that all the injured were immediately rushed to the Primary Health Center Barhi, from where 20 to 25 seriously injured people have been referred to the nearby Katni District Hospital after first aid. Marabi said that some people were also buried under the bus in this accident, which the police took out with the help of the local people. He said that these people were taking a girl from Goparu village in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh to Uchehra in Satna district for marriage. Marabi said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the accident occurred due to over-speeding of the bus. He said that after the accident the bus driver escaped from the spot and his search is on.
