Chinese student abetted to suicide
According to a Reuters news, a few days ago a 19-year-old Chinese student committed suicide by jumping off an eight-storey building. It is learned that this student had alleged that her teacher had sexually assaulted her. It is believed that he took his life because of this hurt. This incident itself is very sad, but even more shocking and regrettable fact is that some people were watching the spectacle for which she was trying to jump from the building to commit suicide. Not only this, they were clapping, provoking him to jump quickly and making fun of him. Even when he jumped, they kept on laughing at him, and did not come to his rescue. The name of this girl student is being told as Li Yuyi.
Later condemned on social media
However, when the video of this incident surfaced, many people were outraged. In this video, it was seen that Lee was sitting there for a long time before jumping and the members of the security team who reached there are trying to stop and convince him. On the other hand it also came to light that some people were not only making fun of her, but when she jumped, they also expressed happiness by clapping. Until he did not jump, some people were also seen making fun of him by saying that he had not jumped yet. After this video surfaced, there is a lot of condemnation of this incident and the attitude of the people on social media. Commenting on this, people are calling it sad and a display of people's petty mentality. Many users say that our society is becoming so stone hearted, how can someone ask someone to jump to die.
case will be investigated
After the video surfaced and after seeing the comments of the people, now the local security agencies have taken cognizance of the matter. Those who abetted Lee's suicide are said to be being identified. After this, the matter of further action has come to the fore. Meanwhile, Lee's parents said that in September last year, one of her teachers had made an act of forcibly kissing her and pulling off her clothes. After this incident, Lee was in depression. A complaint was also lodged in the matter and an appeal was made in the school also to remove that teacher, but no serious legal action was taken against him. The school also hired him back after removing him for a few days. For this reason, Lee was depressed and had made suicide attempts in the past as well. Meanwhile, Chinese social workers have said that after this incident a global campaign like #MeToo can be started again.
