This 63-year-old Bihar man has won the contest to eat the most curd for eight years running

An unusual curd-eating competition was held in Patna on January 18 and attracted participants from all around Bihar. Over 500 individuals competed in the Dahi Khao Inam Pao event, where the goal was to eat as much curd as possible in three minutes. The event, which was organized by Sudha Dairy to showcase the health benefits of curd, was hosted by the Patna Dairy Project. For the curd-eating event, three categories were set: males, ladies, and elderly persons. They have been organizing this remarkable competition since 2012. Additionally, Pranay Shankar Kant, 63, is the only contest winner since 2016.

No one has been able to surpass his record of consuming 4 kilograms (343 grams) of curd in under 3 minutes in the past. Pranay won the competition this time as well—seven times in a row. On January 18, Pranay Shankar Kant was named the competition’s overall champion after he consumed the most curd in both the male and senior categories. Still, Pranay regrets not being able to beat his own mark. This time around, I had hoped to break my personal record of 4 kg, 343 grams, but that did not happen. I sat down wrong this time, else I would have eaten more than five kilos of curd,” he said.

Pranay Shankar Kant is sixty-three years old and in excellent health. He has no medical conditions. He considers it insulting when someone refers to him as a senior citizen. After consuming a lot of curd, Pranay says he walks 15 to 20 kilometers every day. In the month of Magh, he sweats just as much as in the summer.

“I practice about fifty different types of exercises for thirty minutes every morning, and I also teach others how to do the same.” I have not yet developed conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes as a result of this. I am still the best when it comes to eating curd or rasgulla, adds Pranay.
