Watch: The CEO of Paytm Is Paying Attention to LinkedIn Co-Founder’s Deepfake Video

Artificial intelligence (AI) has undoubtedly transformed our lives in this day and age. People increasingly depend on AI approaches for their jobs, from its use in the IT industry to education, health, and many other fields. AI in the workplace has become more popular in a variety of areas. However, in addition to its benefits, the technology has drawbacks. The internet is in disbelief after seeing a video of Reid Hoffman, a co-founder of LinkedIn, created by AI. It’s interesting that Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma responded to it. The video features Hoffman’s “digital twin” speaking with a reporter. The video was posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Sharma commented, “So “Digital twins”—will t that be a legit new term for your AI version?” beside the video. Notably, weeks after releasing a video in which he converses with his own deepfake, Hoffman speaks with the journalist. The LinkedIn co-founder revealed in a blog post that 11ElevenLabs handles voice cloning and Hour One creates his video avatar.

Reid Hoffman, a co-founder of LinkedIn, responded

“I’ve been experimenting lately with making an AI version of myself. It’s not that I want to be someone else—I honestly believed that I wouldn’t like doing this. However, I was interested in exploring the potential of a digital twin and how using it may alter my perspective, inspire new forms of self-expression, or make connections between concepts that I would not have otherwise thought of,” Hoffman wrote.

He continued, saying that he wanted to explore “what is possible and positive from this application of the technology” with his “digital twin,” which makes many people “uncomfortable.” He referred to AI as a “powerful amplifier of humans” and added, “I think these avatars, when built thoughtfully, have the potential to act as mirrors to ourselves—ones that reflect back our own ideas and personality to examine and consider.” There’s a new and strong technology. As we go into the future and try to mold it, it’s critical that we exercise awareness and thoughtfulness,” he said.

Hoffman said, “This experiment is still a work in progress, and I’m excited to explore more ways that AI and video can enhance the dynamic and accessible nature of content.”
