Court in Patna receives complaint of lathi-charge against BJP workers against Nitish and Tejashwi

In connection with the baton charge on a BJP parade in the city earlier this week, a case was filed in a Patna court against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his deputy Tejashwi Yadav, and four other individuals.

The complaint was made on Saturday by Krishna Singh Kallu, a political activist who just joined the BJP, and includes the District Magistrate of Patna as well as the Senior Superintendent of Police among the accused.

According to attorney Sunil Kumar Singh, who filed the plea in Patna Civil Court, “We have prayed for the trial of the accused against various IPC sections, including 302 (murder) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).” The police used a lathi charge despite the procession being peaceful, according to Singh, who said that one BJP member, Vijay Singh, died as a result. This was done on orders from higher-ups, including the chief minister and deputy chief minister. The BJP said that Vijay Singh, the district general secretary for Jehanabad, passed away as a result of wounds he received during a “brutal” police lathi-charge on Thursday during the party’s “Vidhan Sabha march.”

The administration, however, said that CCTV evidence showed that the dead was not at the Dak Bungalow crossing when “mild” use of force was used and that there were no signs of harm on his body when he passed away in the hospital.
