Oppn says it won’t allow the NDA a walkover in the House and aims to maintain the flock

Grand Alliance lawmakers remained sequestered in various Patna neighborhoods on Sunday as the opposition sought to maintain unity before the pivotal trust vote. The opposition’s leaders declared that they would not hand the reins to the ruling alliance, which seemed to have the necessary number of members.

After the family of one of the RJD leaders filed a complaint claiming he was untraceable, a team of Patna police arrived at the residence of former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday night. There, 79 lawmakers from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and 16 from three Left parties had been staying since Saturday. According to persons with knowledge of the situation, the police withdrew when the leader, Chetan Anand, said that he was remaining there of his own will.

“I’m here with my coalition partners, outside Tejashwi Yadav’s residence. Together, freely, and in solidarity, all of the MLAs are present. We don’t operate like people who gather in a group and refer to it as a training program. Dismissing rumors that the MPs were being detained under duress, party national spokesman Manoj Jha said, “We are also unlike those who host a luncheon only to find that many are not turning up.”

The capital of Bihar welcomed back the 19 Congress MLAs who had been relocated to Hyderabad.

A politician from the party said, speaking under anonymity, “We will head home after the vote in the assembly.”

The governing coalition has filed a motion of no confidence against Awadh Bihari Choudhary, the speaker of the Bihar legislature and a prominent member of the RJD. The state legislature is scheduled to vote on the motion of no-confidence against the Speaker after Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar’s usual speech, before to the floor test. For the Speaker to be removed, 122 of the 243 MLAs in the state must support the motion. There are 128 state lawmakers in the NDA at the moment.

The MLAs will have to choose between two Gandhis tomorrow. One is only a picture printed on banknotes. Jha said, “The other was a living embodiment of truth who, after being shot by an assassin, had uttered the name of Lord Ram.”
