Unrest inside the Bihar JDU-RJD alliance? After a ‘parivaarvad’ jab, Rohini, Lalu Yadav’s daughter, ‘takes a dig’ at Nitish

Is there discontent in Bihar inside the RJD-JDU alliance? Potential conflict is hinted at in recent tweets by Rohini Acharya, the daughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav. Nitish Kumar, the president of the JDU and chief minister of Bihar, criticized dynasty politics in the same address as praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving Karpoori Thakur the Bharat Ratna.

Speaking to the assembly, Nitish Kumar underlined that JD(U) does not promote family members inside the party, in keeping with Karpoori Thakur’s teachings. According to Kumar, Karpoori Thakur, who was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna for his efforts to uplift underprivileged communities, never supported family promotions within his party.

“We made his son Ram Nath Thakur a Member of Parliament after Karpoori Thakur’s demise,” said Nitish Kumar. He reiterated the party’s stance, in line with Karpoori ji’s principles, that it would not promote family members.

Surprisingly, the BJP has not responded to Nitish Kumar’s comments, but Rohini Acharya has responded in an unexpected way. She seemed to be taking a go at Nitish Kumar in a string of tweets, calling him “A socialist who is changing ideology like winds” and casting doubt on his motivations and commitment to the law. These tweets raise the possibility of escalating political tensions.

Remarkably, Tejashwi Yadav, the son of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, is the deputy of Nitish Kumar in the Bihar cabinet; Tej Pratap, another son, is a minister. Political debates have been triggered by recent remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah about Nitish Kumar; however, Tejashwi Yadav has downplayed reports of a Mahagathbandhan split, blaming them on the BJP.
