Beginning on July 22, Delhi’s Consumers’ Federation will sell tomatoes for Rs 70 per kilogram

After the price of tomatoes was lowered to Rs 70 per kg, customers in Delhi exhaled a sigh of relief. Since Saturday, tomatoes have been offered at a discounted price in the capital by the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation (NCCF) through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform. On Friday, T Koshy, the managing director of ONDC, said that NCCF will give at a cost of Rs 70 per and that there would be no extra fees for the purchasers.

He had previously said that the service will start on Saturday, July 22, and would only be accessible in Delhi. The Paytm app and Magicpin, which have linked with the government-backed interoperable commerce network, both allow customers to make orders.

The greatest amount a person may order using the site is 2 kilograms. According to the Economic Times, Shadowfaz couriers will handle the deliveries in the meantime.

Koshy also said in the announcement that the deal is only good for the next 10 to 15 days. He said that Paytm and other sellers have agreed without adding any extra fees, and the tomatoes would be supplied to clients at the Rs 70 per kg pricing set by the government. Furthermore, this cost waiver will apply to all items sold on the ONDC website, not only tomatoes. The action is a component of ONDC’s efforts to set itself apart as a socially responsible organization.

Tomato prices have increased significantly over the last 1.5 months, reaching up to Rs 200 per kg in several regions of the nation, including Delhi. The National Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and NCCF were instructed by the central government last week to sell tomatoes at a discounted price. The costs were originally decreased by the government to Rs 90 per kg; on July 16, they were further reduced to Rs 80 per kg; and as of right now, they have been slashed to Rs 70 per kg.
