CEO of Tata Digital resigns

MUMBAI: To improve performance, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran reorganized the management teams of two subsidiary businesses, Tata Digital and Tata AIA Life Insurance. Insiders Naveen Tahilyani and Venkatachalam H have been named CEOs of the e-commerce and life insurance companies by him.

Four years after Chandrasekaran hired Pratik Pal from TCS, another subsidiary, to oversee the web business, Tata Digital has a new leadership team.Pal will stay with Tata Digital to “ensure continuity and contribute with his wealth of experience to the organisation,” according to a statement from Tata Sons that did not specify his new position. Leading Tata Sons’ entry into the internet retail space, Pal has been a part of Tata Digital from its founding.
Chandrasekaran chose Tahilyani to guide Tata Digital into its next development phase and move clients to its Tata Neu super app. Tahilyani elevated Tata AIA to the top three among private life insurers. Tata Neu was introduced in 2022, however its performance isn’t really noteworthy. Flipkart commanded a 48% share of India’s $80-billion e-commerce industry in FY23, according to a Bernstein research.
Thailyani, who will start in the new position on February 19, has “a very successful track record of leadership” and a “strong understanding of consumer domain,” according to Chandrasekaran. He will, meanwhile, stay on staff at Tata AIA in a non-executive director role.
