Chennai Metro: Trains Passing Through Thirumangalam Apartments in Phase II

Chennai Metro Rail’s phase II project is giving the city a distinctive touch that is reminiscent of China’s train-through-apartment idea.

at an effort to promote transit-oriented development, a twelve-story structure with trains flowing through it is being built at Thirumangalam.

According to representatives of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), these trains are expected to travel at a height of around 15 meters above the ground, most likely on the fourth level of the structure. There are plans in place to guarantee that getting to the platform for train boarding is simple from every level.

This lofty structure will be constructed across a 400-meter expanse. The project management review committee will shortly be asked to approve the completed plan. Our goal is to construct transit-oriented communities to facilitate more efficient transportation. Commuters may quickly get a ticket and board the train once they reach this designated level with operating trains, an official told The Hindu.

According to another official, over 90% of the land required for the construction of this structure has already been purchased, and the remaining acquisition is anticipated to be completed shortly.

Corridor 5, which begins at Madhavaram and travels via Anna Nagar, Thirumangalam, Villivakkam, Alandur, and ends at Sholinganallur, includes the Thirumangalam station. Two further corridors are planned under the project: Light House to Poonamallee and Madhavaram to SIPCOT.
