Elon Musk’s AI claim has been met with a reaction from Meta, the top scientist of Facebook

According to recent statements made by Elon Musk, AI could surpass human intelligence by 2029. He went on to say that AI would most likely surpass human intelligence in the next year, which sparked a discussion on X (formerly Twitter). Yann LeCun, top scientist at Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has now “punctured” the X owner’s assertions, stating that this is “not happening next year.”
LeCun responded to Musk’s tweet with, “No.”

“If that were the case, like any 17-year-old, we would have AI systems that could teach themselves how to drive a car in 20 hours of practice,” he said.
He said, “But even though we (you) have millions of hours of *labelled* training data, we still don’t have fully autonomous, reliable self-driving.”

Debatable is AI’s capability
The question of whether AI will soon surpass humans in intelligence has been discussed online. Some have refuted this hypothesis, while others have endorsed this assertion.
In a podcast with Joe Rogan, American computer scientist and futurist Raymond Kurzweil predicted that artificial intelligence (AI) would surpass human intellect by 2029.
“We will get there, and by 2029, it will fit everyone. We’re not quite there yet. In actuality, people think I’m conservative. Many believe it will occur the next year or the year after.
Kurzweil said that when he made the same statement in 1999, many believed he was “crazy.”
“I did say that back in 1999. By 2029, I promised that we would match anybody. For thirty years, everyone believed it to be completely absurd. Several hundred individuals from all around the globe attended a meeting at Stanford University to discuss my forecast, and although some believed it would happen by 2029, others did not. They believed it would need a century,” he said.
LeCun once said that scientists and specialists in Al still needed a great deal of time to create technological environments that could compete with the human intellect.
