Equity market: Sensex and Nifty remain unchanged after record highs in the midst of turbulence

During intraday trading on Friday, the Sensex and Nifty hit all-time highs before leveling out amidst market turbulence. The S&P BSE Sensex finished at 75,410, down 8 points, after reaching a fresh top of 75,636.5. Similar to this, the NSE Nifty50 reached 23,000 before ending the day 11 points down at 22,957.

Performance of stocks
The top performing banks on the 30-share Sensex platform were Axis Bank, NTPC, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, L&T, and NTPC. On the other hand, the biggest losses were Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra, ITC, Mahindra & Mahindra, TCS, and Titan.

In the overall market, the BSE Smallcap index closed 0.20% down at 48,353, while the BSE Midcap index hit a new high of 43,778, finishing 0.23% higher.

industry updates
The Nifty Bank and Private Bank indexes gained 0.4% each to the sector. The Nifty FMCG index, on the other hand, fell by 0.8%.

recap of the previous session
The BSE Sensex finished at an all-time high of 75,418.04 on Thursday, up 1,197 points from the previous session. The NSE Nifty closed at 22,968, up 369.85 points, or 1.64%, to move closer to the 23,000 level.
