“First chip from Tata’s plant in Dholera by 2026”

Ahmadabad: According to Union Minister of Information Technology and Electronics Ashwini Vaishnaw, the first chip produced at Tata Electronics’ Dholera facility would be available in 2026. This was said by Vaishnaw and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday during a press conference held in Dholera after the launch of the company’s semiconductor fabrication facility.

For Rs 91,000 crore, the Tata Group is constructing India’s first semiconductor fabrication plant at Dholera, which has been dubbed the Semicon city.

On a pari passu basis, the Center will provide 50% of the capital expenditure.
“The Micron plant’s chip will be available by December of this year. By 2029, India’s chip ecosystem will rank among the top five globally, according to the ministry. “We are accelerating the timeline and looking forward to going live in 2026,” said N. Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons. A fab typically takes four years to come into existence. We want to start commercial production in the latter half of 2026.”
