Government Should Prohibit the Online Game Undawn, Says NGO Prahar

The non-governmental organisation Prahar has called on the government to outlaw the video game Undawn because it was released on June 15, the anniversary of the Galawan event, and because it shows Chinese troops using military gear and weaponry to damage Indians’ feelings.

According to Prahar National Convenor and President Abhay Mishra, group companies of Chinese internet giant Tencent created and released the game.

“Prahar has written to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) to stop the Chinese game Undawn, which is purportedly being launched on June 15, the anniversary of the Galwan incident, portraying military uniforms and same weapons that were used by Chinese soldiers is purported and hurtful to the sentiments of Indians,” according to a statement from the NGO.

It has previously requested that the Chinese software be blocked, according to Prahar. The Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, which is sponsored by the RSS, likewise agreed with the plea.

“India has to be on guard against the Chinese soft power, which has recently been employed in conjunction with technological encroachment and trade supremacy. The release of the Undawn video game is a disgrace to India, our valiant warriors, and our populace. It is offensive to Indians’ feelings. The game should not be permitted for our kids to play since it exposes them to Chinese soft influence, according to Mishra.

In the letter, Prahar said that the Chinese video game Undawn has players dressed in military-style gear and equipped with heavy weapons like the M416, AK 47, G36, and MPX. Stun bombs, decoy bombs, hand grenades, and many types of explosives are additional weaponry.

According to Prahar, Undawn also depicts Chinese troops using weaponry to strike the valiant Indian soldiers.

“Melee weapons are one of the most prevalent kinds of weaponry in the game. This includes the famed combination maces that the Chinese used to beat our men, which had sharp edges and spikes. The Chinese army’s use of these melee weapons resulted in the deaths of twenty of our Bravehearts, according to the statement.

Prahar is analysing the government’s decision to unblock Battle Ground Mobile India in India, according to Mishra, and will resubmit an application to have the game banned.

Tencent and Krafton were contacted about this, but neither company responded right away.
