In negotiations to extend production network outside of India are TVS and BMW Motorrad

As part of their long-term strategic relationship, Chennai-based TVS Motor Company and Germany’s BMW Motorrad are in talks to extend their production networks outside of India.

The two businesses partnered in April 2013 to produce sub-500cc bikes for international markets. In addition to TVS Motor Company’s flagship motorbike, the TVS Apache RR 310, it led to the creation of four models on the 310cc platform: the BMW G 310 R, BMW 310 GS, and BMW G310 RR, which are currently sold in more than 100 countries worldwide.

In accordance with their collaboration, the Hosur production facility of TVS Motors generates around 10% of the worldwide volume of BMW Motorrad.

“And now with the extension and expansion of this partnership towards future technologies and sustainable mobility solutions, we are also in discussions to expand our manufacturing network beyond India to cater to our future growth under this partnership, which includes the recently unveiled BMW CE 02,” said K N Radhakrishnan, Director & CEO of TVS Motor Company.

“We look forward to working closely on developing platforms targeted towards the global urban centric markets and the “uber-cool” next generation of consumers,” the speaker said.

The incredible success story that started ten years ago, according to Markus Schramm, CEO of BMW Motorrad, has given rise to some excellent sub-500cc market products thanks to the two partners’ strong synergies.

Since their introduction, the BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS single-cylinder models have maintained an unmatched level of popularity and have contributed significantly to BMW Motorrad’s global success, he said.

Schramm said, “The extension and expansion of this partnership towards future technologies and sustainable mobility solutions, including the unique and fully electric masterpiece BMW CE 02, is therefore a consistent step to also shape the future together with TVS Motor Company.”

According to the statement, all of the major markets, including the EU, USA, Latin America, Japan, China, and India, have shown a high level of acceptance for the bikes produced via this cooperation, which now has over 140,000 consumers.
