Instagram’s Threads App: According to Instagram’s head, it’s not intended for “Hard News” or politics

In a recent blog post, Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri, made it clear what the Threads app is for and that it is not meant to take the role of Twitter or serve as a forum for “hard news” or politics. According to Mosseri, Threads is made to provide users a more intimate and personal way to interact with friends and family, concentrating on sharing real-time experiences and keeping up with the lives of their loved ones.

While Mosseri agreed that political and hard news threads may inadvertently emerge on the platform, he was clear that the Threads team at Instagram does not aggressively promote such subjects. They won’t be aggressively sought for, but they also won’t be discouraged or devalued.

This declaration from Mosseri comes as Twitter is being scrutinised more and more for its involvement in the dissemination of false information and hate speech. The dominant social media network has come under fire for its inadequate moderation standards, which have encouraged the spread of damaging information on its site.

Instagram, in contrast, has positioned itself as a platform that is more family-friendly and has strict content management guidelines. The business has received praise for taking a proactive approach to preventing cyberbullying and other types of online harassment.

It is uncertain if Threads will achieve the same level of success as Instagram. Mosseri’s comments, however, imply that Instagram is not aiming to take on Twitter on its own terms. Instead, Threads intends to provide users with an alternative that places a higher value on intimate relationships and human connections than on the distribution of news and political discourse.

Every social media platform is establishing a distinct niche as it develops to meet the various demands of its members. Instagram hopes that Threads will provide users a special place where they can develop deep connections and share special memories with their loved ones.
