On July 3, Land Rover Defender Octa will make its premiere. Strongest and most capable Defender equipped with a twin-turbo V8

On July 3, 2024, British automaker JLR is scheduled to unveil the Land Rover Defender Octa. The Defender Octa, the first JLR model to bear the “Octa” emblem, is set to be the most powerful and hard-core Defender in the range. For all upcoming Defender models that have the greatest range, the ‘Octa’ label will be used.

The octahedron form of a diamond, the hardest naturally occurring material on Earth, is said to be the source of the name “Octa,” according to the firm.
JLR claims that the Defender Octa will have “tough luxury material choices, striking exterior and interior design enhancements, and the options available to make every adventure epic.” Its initial year of production will only see 1,070 units built of the vehicle.

The Octa is being tested in a variety of harsh environments, including numerous laps of the Nordschleife, Michelin’s wet-weather handling circuit in France, testing the vehicle’s traction control on Swedish ice, and the most difficult off-road trails in Dubai and Utah, according to the company’s most recent images. JLR asserts that in addition to the regular Defender test program, it has carried out 13,960 more tests.

Although the business has not disclosed any technical information on the SUV, it has stated that the Octa would be powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 mild hybrid. By contrast, the current Defender lineup makes use of a supercharged ‘AJ’ unit. The 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that powers the Range Rover Sport SV is anticipated to be installed in the Octa. It is supplied from BMW. The engine has a stated 0-100 kph sprint time of only 3.8 seconds, with a maximum speed of almost 280 kph. It produces 618 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque.

The Defender Octa will also be equipped with the same “6D Dynamic” suspension technology as the Range Rover Sport SV. Instead of using a conventional anti-roll bar, the vehicle’s hydraulic system links dampers throughout, allowing for active pitch and roll control. For tough off-road situations, this configuration guarantees enough wheel articulation while preserving comfort and performance on the road.

Additionally, a new diamond-shaped logo will be applied to the Octa’s side paneling and steering wheel. It will also get a custom set of Brembo brakes, as the teaser picture indicates. Later this year, all information, including specs and price, will be revealed. The Octa will replace the Defender as the new flagship model.
“Defender OCTA will be synonymous with mastering epic adventures in heightened luxury,” said Mark Cameron, Managing Director of Defender. The Defender Elements events set the stage for the journey. I’m excited to welcome the first customers to start their Defender OCTA experiences with us since every location and experience authentically and uniquely embodies the legendary Defender DNA.
