PAN-Aadhaar Linking Deadline Missed? What You Should Do To Keep Using Your PAN Card Is Listed Below

Aadhaar and PAN cards might no longer be linked after June 30, 2023. No notice of the deadline extension has yet been issued by the government. From March 31 to June 30 it had previously been extended.

If you still haven’t connected their PAN to Aadhaar, it will stop working as of right now, July 1, 2023. You won’t be able to use some services where you are required to cite your PAN if it becomes inoperative. Only after connecting your Aadhaar and PAN cards can you submit an income tax return.

Tax collected at sources (TCS) and tax deducted at sources (TDS) would likewise be greater for you to pay.

Obtaining government services including subsidies, passport applications, and bank account creation may become challenging if your PAN card and Aadhaar card are not linked, according to reports.

How can PAN be restored to operation?

One may activate their PAN within 30 days, according to a statement from the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) dated March 28, 2023.

The statement said, “The PAN can be made operational again in 30 days, upon intimation of Aadhaar to the prescribed authority and payment of fee of Rs. 1,000.” This indicates that in order to reinstate the PAN, you must pay a fee of Rs 1,000. However, the PAN won’t become operational again for 30 days from the date of connection.

According to The Economic Times’ citation of Naveen Wadhwa, DGM of Taxmann.com, “If an individual requests the linking of his PAN with Aadhaar on July 20 (after paying the penalty), the PAN will become active on or before August 19.” Please be aware that the effects of not having PAN will be felt as long as PAN is inactive. Examples include greater TDS on earnings and a lack of income tax refunds.
