Reasons For Google’s Hundreds of Voice Assistant and Engineering Team Layoffs

New Delhi: In an effort to reduce expenses and streamline operations, Google fired hundreds of workers today from a variety of departments. The majority of the dismissed workers were from the augmented reality hardware team and worked on Google Assistance’s voice-activated features. The corporation released a statement stating that the layoffs also affected employees in the core engineering group.

The goal of the organization’s continuous adjustments, which began in the second half of 2023, is to improve efficiency and match resources with the company’s top product goals. This includes the employment layoffs.

“Several of our teams implemented modifications in the second half of 2023 to improve productivity and efficiency as well as to allocate resources in line with the most important product goals. A Google representative told Reuters that certain teams are still implementing these sorts of organizational reforms, which involve the removal of specific roles worldwide.

The IT behemoth also emphasized how important it is to make organizational adjustments in order to concentrate on important product objectives and increase efficiency.

The IT sector has begun the new year with numerous corporations announcing large layoffs. It’s similar to how 2023 started, before the worst industry backlash in almost ten years.

Hundreds of employees are being let go by Amazon from several content-creation departments, including Twitch and Prime Video. The company Unity Software Inc., which develops the technology behind well-known mobile games like Pokemon Go, said that it will lay off 1,800 employees, or 25% of its staff.
