The IRCTC portal will soon allow commuters in Maharashtra to purchase tickets for MSRTC buses

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website will soon allow commuters in Maharashtra to purchase tickets for buses operated by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). In this context, on Wednesday, the IRCTC and MSRTC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

According to an official speaking to Free Press Journal, “This partnership will enable passengers to book their MSRTC bus journey tickets through the IRCTC portal”, adding that the service is anticipated to start by the end of this month.

The MOU specifies a thorough scope of work that will be specified in the agreement on conditions that both parties may agree upon. By the end of this month, the system for purchasing MSRTC bus tickets is anticipated to be operational. To properly complete this project, specific duties and responsibilities for the IRCTC and MSRTC will be finalized, an IRCTC official informed the news site.

In accordance with the partnership, MSRTC will provide IRCTC access to the APIs for its online bus ticketing system, and IRCTC will incorporate these APIs into its website and mobile applications at https://www.bus.irctc.co.in.

Since its founding in 1999, the IRCTC has been well-known for its work in the hotel and tourist industries and has developed into a one-stop shop for travelers. This agreement would expand IRCTC’s function as a travel facilitator as more than 75% of railroad passengers now buy their train tickets via its web site.

The MSRTC bus ticketing connection would be integrated into the IRCTC’s website and mobile applications, according to the organization.

The MoU, according to IRCTC’s managing director Seema Kumar, “simplifies [passengers’] travel arrangements from a single point” and marks a “significant milestone in improving passenger experience.”

“This integration will give the passengers the advantage of seamless access of last-mile connectivity via the IRCTC Bus Booking Portal, ensuring a smooth journey,” added Kumar.

More than 75% of passengers purchase their train tickets via the IRCTC’s booking platform, and now they may combine their bus and rail trips, according to MSRTC managing director Shekhar Channe.
