To compete with Samsung and Moto, Sony may release the Xperia flip phone soon

With its first-ever Xperia flip smartphone, Sony may be the next smartphone manufacturer to join the market. Even though the new Xperia phone is receiving a lot of interest, the corporation will restrict its availability since it just left a number of areas for commercial reasons.

Returning to the Xperia flip phone rumors, it is said that the smartphone will be known as Xperia Flip and that it will likely take design cues from devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 or the Moto Razr 40 Ultra.

A 7-inch internal display with capability for 4K resolution, which is difficult to envisage in this form factor, particularly given the battery limits, is what Sony is slated to deliver, so the parallels between the two devices could stop there. Sony’s screen may adopt a 21:9 aspect ratio, making it broader than what companies like Samsung provide with their flip phones.

These features won’t likely set the Xperia Flip apart from the other flip phones, however. According to rumors, Sony may include certain features geared at gamers in order to capitalize on its expertise in gaming.

In any case, we’re excited to see what Sony has planned and if the Xperia flip phone will be able to carve out a niche for itself in the premium market. The two biggest companies that haven’t yet entered the foldables market are Sony and Apple, but that might change soon. Google has the Pixel Fold, but the flip variant, which was probably shelved for technical reasons, is still missing.
