Two helpful features to test out in the new operating system are screen distance and easier passcode reset in iOS 17

Recently, iOS 17 was unveiled at WWDC 2023 and made accessible to a small group of testers. Since the OS’s debut, new features have often made news. The main features include a Screen Distance function and a new ability to reset the forgotten password using the prior passcode. The usage of these features is explained in greater depth here.

Reset Password Using an Old Password
Within 72 hours of the update, iOS 17 allows users to reset a new passcode using the old passcode, according to Macrumors. The “Try Passcode Reset” option will be shown whenever the user selects the “Forgot Passcode?” option. After entering the old passcode, the user will be able to generate a new one thanks to this.

However, you may disable the function by selecting “Expire Previous Passcode Now” in the Settings app’s “Face ID & Passcode” option.

Feature for Screen Distance
According to the media outlet, the updated iPhone and iPad operating systems also include a new Screen Distance function that warns users when they hold the device “too close” to their eyes for an extended length of time. This may lessen the chance of developing nearsightedness and promote optimal viewing practises to prevent eye strain.

The TrueDepth Camera is used to determine how far away the user’s iPhone or iPad is from them. An “iPhone is Too Close” full-screen alert will show up if the user holds the device close to their eyes for an extended period of time. The user may touch “Continue” to use the smartphone after moving the device a distance.

You may go to the ‘Screen Time’ option in the Settings app to enable the function.

Eligible iOS 17/iPadOS 17 Devices
Later this year, iOS 17 will become available for the iPhone XS and subsequent models. The 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro devices introduced in 2018 or after will support iPadOS 17. This programme is also accessible to those who have Apple developer accounts.

Regarding WWDC 2023, the massive event also unveiled the much awaited Vision Pro, 15-inch MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and other Mac devices. The firm also displayed updated iPad OS, watchOS, and other software in addition to hardware.
