According to Hansal Mehta, OTT media will follow a similar trajectory as television

According to filmmaker Hansal Mehta, who is pleased with the reception to the newly released second season of his “Scam” series, “Scam 2003: The Telgi Story,” OTT will eventually become obsolete, much like its predecessor television.

After nearly 3 years, Hansal has returned with the “Scam” series. The series’ first season, which featured Pratik Gandhi as stock market con artist Harshad Mehta, was released in 2020 and became an instant hit.

This time, Hansal, who is the creative director for “Scam 2003: The Telgi Story,” told IANS that replication is a necessary part of capitalism and market forces if something is successful in order to profit from it.

People use it repeatedly until it fails, at which point they must try something new. The pressures of the market are what cause this to exist everywhere, not only in the movie industry.

“If a personal computer at a certain price point is doing very well in the market, then 20 other manufacturers of personal computers will try selling their machines at different price points,” the “Aligarh” director said, using an example.

He said, “The only difference I see between our industries is how unpredictable it is; you can never measure or foresee what the audience will enjoy or, in this instance, how the customer behavior would be. Although what they embrace now may not be what they embrace tomorrow, there is a great likelihood that they would accept it eventually.

He said, “And this is proved by the success of ‘Gadar 2’,” using the film’s enormous popularity as an example. I believe “Gadar 2” would not have achieved the kind of popularity it has today if it had been released in the late 2000s or the early 2010s. However, due to the movie’s long-standing popularity, audiences flocked to the theaters to see it when it debuted.

Sony LIV currently has “Scam 2003: The Telgi Story” streaming.
