Actor Suhani Bhatnagar of “Dangal” was afflicted with dermatomyositis, a rare condition

Actress Suhani Bhatnagar, who starred with Aamir Khan in the movie Dangal, passed very suddenly at the age of 19. Her parents have now disclosed the reason of her death: a rare ailment known as “dermatomyositis.”

Her father said in a recent interview with the media that she started to have hand edema around two months ago.

Eventually, the swelling covered her whole body. It took a while for Suhani’s sickness to be detected, and she was admitted to AIIMS 11 days ago. She was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune illness after tests.

An uncommon inflammatory condition called dermatomyositis is characterized by a characteristic skin rash and muscular weakness.

Both adults and children may be affected by the illness, according to the Mayo Clinic. Dermatomyositis usually strikes adults in their late 40s or early 60s. Children between the ages of five and fifteen often exhibit it. More women than men are afflicted by the illness.

The symptoms of dermatomyositis may develop gradually or unexpectedly. Muscle weakness and skin abnormalities are the most prevalent symptoms.

A violet-colored or dusky red rash under skin changes often develops on the face and eyelids, although it may also present on the knees, elbows, chest, back, and knuckles. Rash that is unpleasant and itchy sometimes precedes dermatomyositis in patients.

The muscles closest to the trunk, such as those in the hips, thighs, shoulders, upper arms, and neck, are affected by progressive muscular weakening. The Clinic states that the weakness progressively becomes worse and affects both the left and right sides of your body.
