Although we were buddies, Chennai turned us into best friends: Deepika

Chennai is credited with bringing together actors Deepika Venkatachalam and Raja Vetri Prabhu of Kana Kaanum Kaalangal fame. “We were friends, but Chennai made us best friends,” says Deepika. Our romance was greatly influenced by the city as it was on one of our long drives here that we realized we were meant to be together.”

“The street food joints in Chennai are our favorite places to visit.”
Deepika: The street food establishments that provide bread omelettes, T Nagar dosa kada, Nungambakkam pani puri store, and softy ice cream kiosks are some of our favorite spots in Chennai. We like to sample meals from the street. We usually begin our trips with either biryani or roattu kadai kaalan, regardless of the destination. Most of all, we love hanging out at Bessy Beach and taking drives down the ECR.
Raja: I haven’t spent as much time in Chennai since I was up north because my father was in the Army. However, she has brought back pleasant memories of the city for me; Chennai is where I will always find delight.
“When Vetri was visiting the Taj Mahal, I surprised him.”
Deepika: When I got to know Raja, I wanted him to get out and explore since he hadn’t actually been anywhere since he was a youngster. When he and his group of pals went to the Taj Mahal, I took a big surprise for him. I’ve never surprised someone as beautifully as I did with that one.
“We take long rides through the city at night.”
Raja: She reminds me of Priya from the movie Vaaranam Aayiram, which we both love. I sent her little videos that I had taken at Vaaranam Aayiram. When it comes to giving, she often purchases my favorite items and offers me moments as presents, such as surprising me. Since it offers a quiet period, we begin most of our travels in Chennai with a lengthy nighttime ride. We also like watching the dawn together on the ECR, which is located close to the Muttukadu Bridge.
Deepika: Raja brought me to the Sai Baba Temple in Chennai as our first outing. Attending temples on Thursdays has now become a weekly tradition. The temple is the first location that usually comes to mind when we spend time together. Most of the time these days, when we get together, we want to remain at home. Because we both have hectic lives and little time to spend together, I want to spend quality time with my spouse at home.
