Day 2 of the box office sales for Bhumi Pednekar’s film Thank You for Coming are steady, bringing in Rs. 1.56 crores

The movie Thank You For Coming, starring Bhumi Pednekar and Shehnaaz Gill, opened in theaters on October 6. Both reviewers and viewers have given the movie mixed reviews. With just Rs. 1.06 crores sold at the box office on Day 1, it got off to a sluggish start. The movie made Rs 1.56 crores on its second day, demonstrating continuous development. The movie has now earned Rs 2.62 Cr in total.

The movie is getting a lot of positive reviews and buzz despite its A classification and small screen count. In the coming-of-age comedy Thank You For Coming, Pednekar plays Kanika Kapoor, a single lady in her 30s who is searching for genuine love and pleasure. Karan Boolani is the director, while Radhika Anand and Prashasti Singh wrote the script. The movie also has Kusha Kapila, Dolly Singh, and Shibani Bedi in significant roles in addition to Bhumi and Shehnaaz.

In a previous interview, Bhumi said that the plot of the movie exploits female desire to examine the subject of patriarchy in society. “Orgasm is a metaphor for a bigger picture that the movie discusses. Because patriarchy is not gender specific, the movie is anti-patriarchal; it is not a man-versus-woman story.

“Patriarchy affects both men and women. That is the movie’s central idea. The movie is about women and sisterhood. This is the concept of the movie, since every movie has a central idea or thesis,” she said.

She thinks that “Thank You For Coming” would lessen the stigma associated with women’s sexual liberty. “Up until ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ was produced, people were reluctant to discuss erectile problems. I think the movie helped the conservation since it was a problem that people in families couldn’t discuss.

News18 Thank You For Coming is a decent try, but it doesn’t turn out properly, according to Showsha, who scored the movie 2.5 stars. You would expect a more thoughtful and less superficial representation of women when two women are supporting a movie and two women are writing the screenplay. We do indeed discuss males and pleasure. But there is more to life than that. Men make up a very minor portion of it. The duty of upholding morality is not one that falls to movies, to be sure. Without a doubt, women have flaws as well. Hey, we’re not being silly. Take it from a single millennial woman: Thank You For Coming doesn’t exactly strike the mark.
