One of the best actors in the business right now is Manoj Bajpayee. On April 23, the actor turns 55. Let’s take a minute to remember the day Sanjay Leela Bhansali offered him a part in “Devdas.” Manoj was being considered for a prominent role in the historical romance.

In spite of this, the actor most renowned for his part in “The Family Man” turned down the chance to appear in “Devdas.”You read correctly!

Manoj was not interested in playing a supporting role, therefore, he turned down Sanjay’s offer. He turned down the part in “Devdas” because, according to News18, he was used to playing the lead in previous movies and felt that doing a supporting role would make him less marketable.

In a previous interview with ETimes, Manoj said, “I’ve always wanted to play ‘Devdas.'” A few adaptations have been made, but nobody has considered casting me. It would be a pleasure to portray such role.

For those who are unaware, Shah Rukh Khan played Devdas, Aishwarya Rai played Paro, and Madhuri Dixit played Chandramukhi in Sanjay’s adaptation of the Bengali classic.

Regarding his career, Manoj is making waves with his intense portrayal of ACP Avinash in “Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout,” the follow-up to the 2021 criminal thriller “Silence… Can You Hear It? (I could not).”
