Director of “12th Fail,” Vidhu Vinod Chopra, gave Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr instructions not to mimic the real-life Sharma Manoj Kumar and Joshi Shraddha

The biographical drama film 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is a surprise blockbuster that is going to have a long-lasting effect on the Indian film industry.

Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr discussed how they brought their characters to life while honouring the legacies of actual people in a conversation with Pinkvilla.
Even though the movie is based on fact, director Vidhu Vinod Chopra gave the performers strict instructions not to mimic Manoj Kumar Sharma and Shraddha Joshi in real life.

Rather, he wished for them to draw on the couple’s experience to provide original depictions of the characters.
According to Medha Shankr, the director was quite picky about their performances, finding a balance between inspiration and uniqueness. She said that, in order to comprehend Shraddha Joshi’s character more fully, she coupled in-depth conversations on Shraddha’s characteristics with Vidhu Vinod Chopra with firsthand encounters with Shraddha. While being faithful to the role, Medha Shankr tried to include her own version of Shraddha in her portrayal.
12th Fail, which was released in October 2023, is still doing well at the box office, which is a credit to both the outstanding work of the whole crew and the film’s broad appeal. The movie just celebrated its silver jubilee, which is a big turning point in its history. The movie’s popularity solidifies its status as one of the year’s most notable movies, as the narrative continues to excite viewers throughout the country.
The film follows the inspirational journey of Manoj Kumar Sharma, an IPS officer, and his partner, Shraddha Joshi, as they rise through the ranks of the famed Indian Police Service. Sharma is the son of a clerk from the dacoit-infested Chambal area.
