In response to Hrithik Roshan’s remark on the “burden of being a star,” Shahid Kapoor says: Aspiring to be Amitabh Bachchan and Leonardo DiCaprio

Hrithik Roshan created ripples across the online sphere when he candidly discussed the “burden of being a star.” In an interview, the actor characterized stardom as both a “gift and responsibility.” He delved into the challenges, acknowledging the struggle of balancing his identity as an actor without the weight of the star persona.

Following suit, Shahid Kapoor, in a subsequent dialogue with Film Companion, shared his perspectives on the nuanced equilibrium between being an actor and a star, particularly within the entertainment industry.

Having grappled with the dichotomy between being a star and an actor throughout his career, Shahid provided his take on the matter. In understanding Hrithik’s sentiments, he confessed, “I can comprehend why he expressed that. I, on the other hand, face the reverse predicament. I feel I don’t want to relinquish the actor within me, occasionally prioritizing the star persona.”

Elaborating on the intricacies of navigating this duality, Shahid elucidated, “His journey is unique, and mine is distinctive. My approach is akin to figures like Leonardo DiCaprio or Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar—examples where stardom coexists with profound acting prowess. I have grown up admiring that, and it serves as my aspiration.”

Recognizing the complexities of the Indian film industry, Shahid acknowledged that Bollywood actors operate within a “different industry, where the audience is distinctly diverse.”

While assuring that he will find the equilibrium, he affirmed, “I won’t allow the actor within me to fade away. That’s a compromise I am not prepared to make.”

Shahid, exploring various film genres, is set to grace the screen in the upcoming romantic drama film ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.’ Portraying a robot scientist who experiences emotions and ultimately marries Kriti’s character, Sifra, an intellectually advanced female robot, the film, written and directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah, is slated for release in theaters on February 9.
