Margot Robbie says that Lady Gaga will “crush it” in her role as Harley Quinn in The Joker

It’s time for Margot Robbie to pass the reins to another actor after her incredible performance as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey. Lady Gaga has been cast in the role of Joker: Folie à Deux, the legendary figure. Although there is a lot of enthusiasm around the premiere of this movie, the original Harley Quinn recently voiced her thoughts on Lady Gaga taking over.

Speaking with Variety at the Golden Globes pre-show, Margot Robbie shared her delight about Lady Gaga assuming the role. She cried out, “She’s going to kill it! She is going to be fantastic. Actually, I haven’t discussed anything with her. To be honest, I almost prefer not to find out so that I may be surprised when I watch the movie.

Margot Robbie had previously said to the magazine that she “wished Harley was a role that would be handed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters.” For her, it was always the dream. Harley is so much fun and has so much potential. When you give her to someone else, you wonder, “What are they going to do with her?” There are many alternatives.

For the first time, Margot Robbie played Harley Quinn in the 2016 DC film Suicide Squad. The company chose to bring her back for the 2021 film The Suicide Squad because of how engaging her interpretation of the character was. In addition, she portrayed Harley Quinn in the spinoff movie Birds of Prey.

Through the posting of an animated video on social media in August 2022, Lady Gaga disclosed her casting in Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux, with her and Joaquin Phoenix’s silhouettes set to the iconic soundtrack.

The filmmakers concluded shooting in April 2023, and they shared the news on social media along with a few character stills. In one shot, Lady Gaga is seen gazing directly into the camera with a disturbed expression, while in another, Joaquin Phoenix is shown wearing a complete makeup and costume and leaning his head to the right while sitting. “That concludes the matter.
