Darshan, the star of Kaatera, is in legal hot water for statements he made disparaging women. As many as four complaints have reportedly been made against the actor in the last week, but he has opted to remain mute in the face of mounting scandal.
According to reports, the Karnataka Women’s Commission has received a complaint against the actor from members of the women’s organization Gowdatiyara Sene, who claim he insulted women at a recent speech in Srirangapatna. His remarks, “Ivathu ivalu irthale, naale avalu barthale,” which roughly translates to “Today, it’s her, tomorrow it’s another,” were reportedly met with resistance. The organization determined that these statements were insulting, and as a result, its members are now calling for the actor to provide an apology.
After accusations from Ganesh Gowda and Jagadish, two further charges were filed against Darshan at the Rajarajeshwari Nagar police station in RR Nagar. The actor reportedly said certain things against powerful community leaders that got him into legal hot water.
Darshan has remained silent despite being associated with several legal issues, leaving people to question why he hasn’t spoken out yet. Online rumors about his quiet are now circulating. The actor allegedly said that he did not respond to issues right away in a previous interview. He asserts that you will be able to apprehend the guilty party if the issue is minor enough.
The last time we saw Darshan was in the December 29, 2023, release of the movie Kaatera. Darshan played the main character in Tarun Sudhir’s film, which also starred Aradhana Ram, Jagapathi Babu, Kumar Govind, and a host of other actors. Under his production company Rockline Entertainments, Rockline Venkatesh produced it, while V Harikrishna wrote the soundtrack. The movie, which had a budget of only Rs 45 crores, made over Rs 104 crore at the box office.
