Biden is excited to visit India but disappointed that Xi Jinping would forego the G20

The White House announced on Friday that Biden will fly to India on September 7 to take part in the G20 Summit and would meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8 outside of the historic gathering.

The annual summit of the powerful grouping will be held in New Delhi on September 9 and 10, with India serving as the event’s host in its position as the G20’s current president. President Xi’s attendance in the G20 Leaders Summit is subject to formal confirmation from China, according to Muktesh Pardeshi, the G20’s special secretary, who said this on Friday.

The G20 member nations account for over two-thirds of the world’s population, over 80% of the global commerce, and about 85% of the world’s GDP.

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, and the European Union (EU) are included in the group.
