First Two Hawaii Wildfire Victims Found; Governor of Hawaii Says It May Take A Few Days To Get A Confirmed Count

Robert Dyckman, 74, and Buddy Jantoc, 79, both residents of Lahaina, were the first two casualties of the deadly flames that engulfed Maui island last week, according to the Maui Police Department.Currently, 106 people have died and 1300 are listed as missing. Hawaii’s Governor Josh Green agrees that it may take the authorities several days to determine a precise number of fatalities that have been officially verified.

He said that the police had identified three further people, whose relatives will be notified.

While Hawaii people criticized his government’s reaction, US President Joe Biden announced his trip to the devastated island.

The President also said that all “available federal assets” in the area, including the US Coast Guard and military, will be used for recovery operations.

It requires meticulous labor. The president, who will go to Hawaii with Jill Biden, added, “It takes time and it’s nerve-wracking.
